Happy Birthday Scrap Girls

This past weekend on Friday, October 20th, Scrap Girls turned 2 years old. As a result, they had a birthday bash. They had a 22.2% off sale on almost all of their products. They had contests, challenges, games and crops galore. It was definitely a fun packed weekend. I wish I could have enjoyed the whole party, but there were just too many other things I had to do. I did manage to join in the very end of the last crop of birthday celebration. It was the "Super Duper Party Finale - Color Challenge" hosted Saturday, October, 21st at Midnight by Marnie aka sprinkles! The colors for the challenge were Purple & Yellow - in celebration of Scrap Girls Anniversary! Since I really didn't get to participate in the challenge crop, as with several others, layouts could still be posted in their Anniversary Gallery until 6:00 pm today. I had to whip something up yesterday as a representation of a great weekend. Following is the layout I created:

I wanted try something new in doing the layout. I decided to use one of my photos from our recent cruise as the background for the layout. The photo was taken on the island of Grand Cayman. It was de-colored to purple and white tones. Then the yellow flowers were added back on, which made them pop out of the layout. The ribbon came from Scrap Girls designer,
Thao Cosgrove's Passion Collection. It was re-colored slightly to coordinate with the background. Then a yellow background was added behind the ribbon. The font I used was Park Avenue.
